The aims of the GTUF are:
- Ensure that full life is extracted from all gas turbine components and other generic components.
- Increase the level of understanding of the life consumption mechanisms which determine the ultimate life of gas turbine and other generic components.
- Share information on component design enhancements and upgrades and gain an understanding of how these may be of value to gas turbine users.
- Research, develop and optimise appropriate inspection and refurbishment/replacement strategies for gas turbine components and other generic components.
- Work with the refurbishment industry to ensure highest quality standards are achieved.
- Participate in joint research projects that deliver maximum benefit to the project sponsors and to extend the programme of project to the “higher hanging fruit.”
- Build relationships with other gas turbine users by sharing experiences and fostering information exchange that will deliver broader benefits to all parties.
- Share experiences in relation to gas turbine hardware failures, quality control issues, operational incidents and planned and unplanned outage execution in a way that supports the improved safety and cost effectiveness of operation.
- Accelerate the development of technical staff through networking and targeted industry relevant training opportunities.
- Raise and seek resolution of industry issues.
